Background information on Pagoda Gallery

Pagoda Gallery

Background

The current owners of Pagoda Gallery are the third generation of antique devotees running the Chung family Chinese antique business. They inherit their knowledge and fervor for Chinese antiques from their father, who migrated from Guangzhou, China in the fifties to start his business in Hong Kong. Old Mr. Chung’s antique pieces, complemented by his remarkable knowledge and talent in the trade, soon became the foundation of one of the most successful and reputable antique businesses in Hong Kong. Forming close relationships with antique dealers and clients, many of whom are professionals, collectors and celebrities, the Chung family distinguished itself by integrity, rich experience, inexhaustible knowledge and commitment in the Chinese antique business.

The Chinese name for Pagoda Gallery is “永基”, coined by the current owners’ grandfather back in China, to mean “eternal foundation”. The Gallery is now run by the Chung family’s third generation, who embodies the honour, professionalism, and integrity of the name.

The lighting creates a harmonious ambience in which customers can comfortably and clearly view the antique items.

Marketing Strategy

People
Pagoda Gallery strongly believes that Chinese antiques are for anyone with an eye for beauty or an interest in Chinese history and culture. They should not be confined to the rich. Pagoda aims at nurturing amateurs to become high-end collectors who share the owners’ appreciation of the Chinese treasures.

Innovation
Pagoda is the trendsetter of style among its kind, leading the other dealers in the way antiques are displayed and featured.

Reliability
Pagoda avoids the traditional antiques dealers’ practice of concealing prices from browsing customers. The set price and a brief description providing the age of the item are clearly labeled for every piece in the shop, keeping customers informed and relaxed in their antique shopping experience. The owners believe in providing a non-intimidating atmosphere where the customers never feel forces to purchase an item.

The Gallery’s competitive pricing sustains a high turnover and maintains long-term relationship with customers all over the world.

To guarantee authenticity, customers are provided with a Certificate of authenticity with picture, detail descriptions and a store stamp upon purchase of an item.

Services
Free delivery to local customers and door-to-door courier service to overseas, guaranteed secure and professional packing.

After service in case customers have to re-pack the antiques.

Tailor-made stand or support for most of the pieces to out their uniqueness and beauty, and to protect fragile products.
